A Letter From Me to You: The Face Behind Guéniat Gold Gallery
I have always believed that the most meaningful pieces are not simply worn, they are carried with you. They hold stories, memories, and a quiet sense of connection. For me, that connection began long before Guéniat Gold Gallery ever existed.
I grew up in a family deeply rooted in the world of Australian gemstones. Some of my earliest memories are not of shops or showrooms, but of open land, long days, and the quiet patience of fossicking. My parents and my uncle spent years travelling through the Central Queensland Gem Fields, searching for sapphires and other rare stones. As a child, I would spend my school holidays camping alongside them, learning that true beauty is rarely immediate. It reveals itself slowly, with time, care, and attention.
Those years shaped the way I see the world. While my father and uncle focused on cutting and polishing the stones we found, I found myself imagining what they could become. I was drawn to the idea of transformation. A raw stone, hidden beneath the earth, becoming something refined, elegant, and lasting. Without realising it at the time, I was learning the language of design. Balance, proportion, and restraint became instinctive, not taught.
My appreciation for gemstones naturally evolved into a passion for jewellery. Not as an accessory, but as something far more considered. Something personal.
Years later, during a trip to Switzerland with my husband Paul, I was introduced to a master jeweller based in Dubai, known to us as Sir John. From our first meeting, there was a clear alignment in values. Precision, integrity, and an uncompromising approach to craftsmanship. What began as a simple introduction became a trusted partnership that has now spanned over a decade.
Together, we began creating pieces using sapphires sourced through my family. Each design was thoughtful and deliberate. Every detail mattered. Over time, that collaboration grew into something more defined, more purposeful. It became the foundation of Guéniat Gold Gallery.
Today, Guéniat Gold Gallery represents the coming together of everything that has shaped me. Australian heritage, refined craftsmanship, and a deep respect for the materials we work with. Each piece is crafted in 18 carat gold, chosen for its richness and enduring quality, and many of my bespoke pieces integrate carefully selected stones that meet the same standard of excellence.
While our roots remain grounded in Australian sapphires, our collections have evolved to reflect a broader expression of fine jewellery. Pieces designed to feel modern, yet timeless. Considered, yet effortless. Jewellery that can be worn today, and still hold its place decades from now. I have a real desire to design and create unique jewellery and have recently traveled and made connections with jewellers in Italy, Japan and Hong Kong who are on the cutting edge of modern technology and jewellery crafting that I am excited to explore further.
As you explore Guéniat Gold Gallery, I hope you feel that sense of connection. Not only to the pieces themselves, but to the story behind them. Because every creation begins somewhere, and for me, it began in the earth, surrounded by family, patience, and the quiet pursuit of something beautiful and has led me to today where I am exploring a new era in modern jewellery crafting techniques and design.
As I begin to share with you each collection, my hope is that you discover pieces that resonate with you personally, pieces that either excite or calm you, and pieces that are truly unique.
Love Kristie
